Arnot Gospel Hall

Cupar Road, Kennoway, Fife

You may have received one of our free pens or pencils recently, if not, feel free to ask us for one.

The pens come with the following verses printed on them:

All have sinned (Romans 3:23)

While we were still sinners Christ died for us (Romans 5:8)

The pencils have the words, "You must be born again" (John 3:7)

These words are from the Bible, we believe that the Bible is God's word and He tells us about Himself and His plans for us through it. The verse "All have sinned" is acutally longer than would fit on a pen. It reads: "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." This means that God has a standard. He is perfect. Only perfect things can enter His presence without being destroyed. The Bible is very clear that all men, all women, all boys and all girls are sinners, we have fallen short of the standard of perfection. We are not perfect. This means that if we were in God's presence we would be destroyed.

The good news is that God doesn't want us to be destroyed. He wants to have a relationship with us. He wants us to know Him and enjoy the blessings that knowing Him brings. Thankfully, the next verse printed on your pen reads: ...while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. God made a way to solve the problem, He made it possible for us to have a relationship with Him, to be in His presence, in Heaven, without being destroyed. That way, was very costly to Him but completely free to us. The punishment we deserved because we are imperfect was death - and death is coming to all of us - but the good news of the gospel is that Jesus Christ died to take that punishment so that we don't have to. He was crucified for our sin, our wrongdoings. He took our place.

To be "born again" may seem like a rather strange quote. These words were spoken by the Lord Jesus Christ, he was explaining that we need to accept that we are sinful, believe in our heart that Christ Jesus died in our place and rose again to save us then confess our sins to God and ask Him to forgive us. This results in being born again. Having new spiritual life. We are freed from the punishemnt of our sin. We are saved from it. We will be in heaven when we die. We can know a life filled with purpose and meaning. The life God wanted us to have.

Everyone who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ will have eternal life. (John 3:15)
